Pissed off

Mon Mar 2, 2009, 10:56 AM
The artist left 4 messages on my girl's account. the first one said "GOING A LITTLE FAR INTO THE RED ZONE, SON. I SUGGEST YOU CHECK YOURSELF.I KEEPS IT REAL". Not speaking ghetto my girl replied "?" to which the artist replied (paraphrasing for lack of actual comment access) "using my style for 3 comics, a bit much don't you think?". My girl looked back over her artwork and deciding a couple pages were too close to the artist's style and took them down and posted her public apology to the artist. The artist (once again, paraphrasing, make room for a 2% translation error) responded "this is so so so unnecessary". My girl asked me if I thought it was resolved or not, and I told her what I made of the comment, that "the artist really wasn't all that mad, probably because you apologized and are attempting to right the major mistakes. Most artists I've met are pretty cool and nonchalant about their work, and get flattered when someone gets inspiration from them. So yes, it's probably resolved. She'd tell you if she wanted anything else". Next thing my girl knew, she was being trolled. Admist the trolling the artist to whom my girl apologized to said "Shouldn'tve hid my comments lol." which was the first instance at all that the artist made it known she wanted the comments unhidden.

Recently a large amount of people decided to take it upon themselves to make asses of themselves by upseting someone close to me. She was called a theif and other rude comments. She did not hide anything and blatantly told those who liked her art that she was inspired by another artist on deviantart, however having watched her draw the pieces she did myself I know for a fact that what she was drawing came straight from her own head. The artist whom motivated her seemed upset, and Lord only knows my girl had felt like SHE needed to apologize and made a public apology. She was upset and not wanting her close friends to think she was stealing art, which she is %100 against, she hid the fairly harmless comments.

Somewhere someone decided her art was stolen and told quite a few people it was such. I am going to try my best to calmly explain stealing to you fucking morons. Stealing is taking the image and saying it is your own. Stealing is taking an image, giving it small alterations, and calling it your own. Stealing is saying the idea was your own when it was not.
1. to take (the property of another or others) without permission or right, esp. secretly or by force: A pickpocket stole his watch.
No property, original art, etc was taken.
2. to appropriate (ideas, credit, words, etc.) without right or acknowledgment.
She used her own ideas, drawings, format and jokes, and STILL told people of the artist who inspired her and told them to look her up.
3. to take, get, or win insidiously, surreptitiously, subtly, or by chance: He stole my girlfriend.
Nothing she had, has or ever will have in her gallery was taken from someone else.

No, what she did was something many of you recognize and practice. It's something like fanart. 1. fanart (also "fan art")
Art of any form, usually electronic or drawn free hand, that uses characters or settings from a popular television show, novel, cartoon, anime, or movie as the subject.

My girl drew characters from some shows she enjoyed, and used a style similar to the artist whom inspired her. A STYLE. Do you dipshits realize that saying she stole ANYTHING when she only used a STYLE of drawing is like two girls wearing the same shirt which was mass-produced and one saying the other STOLE IT. Last I checked, styles cannot be owned. In fact if I remember my high school intro class correctly, I was told to mimick quite a few artists.

You spammed her account, called her countless names, made her feel like shit, and for what? Because she was drawing some pencil sketches in a style similar to another artist? I hope you all feel like big shit now, because I have quite a bit of damage control to do now. Every single one of you should be happy she's not reporting your asses.

And to the fucking artist whom she was a fan to: I'm sorry you were being a bitch and couldn't talk it over with her. She is a reasonable person who pubicly apologized for your sake and you still felt like doing this to her instead of just telling her what you wanted her to do. I'm sorry you're so insecure that you couldn't take her fandom as a compliment. I hope it was fucking worth it to destroy another person's self esteem.

Say whatever the fuck you want. No comments shall be hidden or reported here. I will talk to every single one of you fuckers until you realize how deep your heads are up your asses.

That would be nice. But my main goal is create an understanding
:iconjamesbathory:
The apology-thing was actually sarcasm. I won't.
Why are you being so serious about this? I mean, come on! It's the INTERNET!

I didn't read the other comments because they were hidden. So I don't know what everyone else wrote. But to react to this, I mean react in general, was justified and you can't deny that. Well, you can, but you would lie. It was just bad luck she pissed off and entire community, and even worse she pissed off this community.

"Listen, I've already taken two Xanax this morning so, uh, you're incapable of, like, upsetting me."
- Bret Easton Ellis, American Psycho
:iconreitomsmate:
It was a very poor reaction if you ask me. Things could have been handled a thousand times more maturely
:iconfooln-what:
Could have, yup.

I do admit you've got balls standing up to an entire community and all.
But perhaps it would be more educated for you to actually know what you're talking about next time ;B
:iconreitomsmate:
maybe you shouldn't troll someone whom who don't know. Did you feel safe in your numbers, like it was okay for you antagonize her for something she didn't do because you were "anonymous"?
:iconmutationification:
I'd have said something to her even if it was just me.
You can hunt down all the posts on DA I've ever made for proof, if you're so concerned on proving you're better than anyone ;B
:iconreitomsmate:
I appreciate you are talking to me now in full sentence and attempting to justify why you did such a rude thing. It would have been easier on her if you had just done that then. Her account didn't need to be spammed. She has people telling her she may have to start a new account just because of this mess. She may have to start all over again just because she posted her own artwork in a style close to someone else. Doesn't something about this strike you as wrong?
